Howes B-55. Larned 1233 (for the English translation): "Narrative of the doings of the French in America, especially in the Yorktown campaign." Gephart 7199: "Reviews the causes of the Revolution as they were influenced by French settlement in America, summarizes the activities of those, including Lafayette, who came to the colonies before France entered the war, and offers a detailed narrative of French military and naval participation." With the map defects noted, a very good copy otherwise. Contemporary polished tan calf, gilt, marbled boards, endpapers, and edges, leather spine labels. (#8171). Item #61248
