AN ASTRONOMICAL DIARY: OR, ALMANACK FOR THE YEAR OF OUR LORD CHRIST, 1764

Boston: Printed and sold by R. and S. Draper, in Newberry Street; Edes & Gill, and Green & Russell, in Queen Street; and T. & J. Fleet, at the Heart and Crown in Cornhill; sold also by the Booksellers, [1763]. 16mo. 12 leaves, interleaved with smaller sheets of paper on which the contemporary owner has kept short notes over the course of the year related to tax payments, wages for house servants, bible readings, the birth of a child, etc. (10 leaves). The owner was evidently a minister; he mentions the death of his friend and brother in the ministry Rev. James Cushing on May 13, 1764 (Cushing [1705-64], was a Congregationalist minister whose circuit included northeastern Massachusetts). He devotes one page to the costs incurred for shoes, clothing and medical care for his female house servant. Uniformly foxed, some edgewear, but a very good copy. Original printed self-wrappers, with old, but not original stitching. Item #60899
