Life in Laramie, Wyoming, at the turn of the 20th century, as recorded in a photograph album containing 122 images, picturing activities on city streets and outdoors in the surrounding countryside; included are photographs of parades, hunting, fishing, and camping, women with guns and bagged game, cowboy round-ups, stage coaches, western topography, businesses, etc.

Oblong 4to. 24 card-stock leaves on which are mounted 122 photographs, each 4 x 4 inches, two or four to a side. The outdoor images include a wrangler, with rifle, on horseback in camp (2 photographs), a woman and two men fishing a stream while standing on rocks in the middle (2), horse breaking (3), women on horseback in camp (1) and posed in camp with a guide holding a rifle (3), a hunter on a town street with his shotgun, springer spaniel, and string of ducks (3), the ducks and shotgun posed mounted on a wall (1), native Americans at a parade (1), stage coaches, steers, and mounted horsemen in a parade (5), women with bicycles (6), elk in a field (1), pack horses, supply wagons, and mountain camps (14), a deer head trophy and rifle posed at a tree (1), a woman shooting a shotgun in a sage brush field (1), a woman at a pond, shotgun on her shoulder, holding a bagged duck (1), a man and a woman shooting into a stream (1), a long string of trout posed against a tent with rod, creel, and two rifles (1), and a hunter posed in the field with his shotgun and three bagged ducks (1); the remaining 74 photographs picture town streets and buildings, some interior views of the buildings and inhabitants, social gatherings, dances and stage plays, couples wooing, children playing, farmyard scenes, domesticated animals, and other images of late 19th-century western life. Some of the photographs are overexposed, some are faded, but the whole provides an excellent vernacular picture of life in the American west at the turn of the 20th century, with an emphasis on hunting, fishing, and camping.
