Small 4to (9 x 7 inches). 167, (1) pp. Includes 80 stories, mostly waterfowl, but with several account of pursuing upland game (quail, prairie chicken, woodcock, ruffed grouse, etc.), 44 by Hazelton, the rest by William Leffingwell, Ray P. Holland, Ernest McGaffey, and others; most of the hunting takes place in the greater Mississippi River watershed, but stories from Texas, the Chesapeake Bay, Florida, and New England are included. Illustrated from photographs and paintings, plates, some in color. Phillips, p. 165 (describing only the 152-page 1915 edition of this title). OCLC locates one copy of this issue (Trinity), one copy of a 1916 175-page issue (Virginia), and five copies of a 1915 152-page issue (California-Berkeley, Field Museum, Indiana Lake County Public, Williams, College of Charleston). Rare in trade, with no copy of one of the 1915 issues appearing at auction for the past 40 years (ABPC, 1975-2014). One plate with a closed, repaired tear; otherwise a good copy of one of the scarcest of Hazelton's books.
