Ein Schatzkaestlein Deutscher Bergangenheit. Original-Radierungen

Rothenburg, Germany: The artist, nd [1920s]. First edition. Small 4to (9 3/4 x 7 3/4 inches). Title leaf and 10 etchings of Rothenburg street scenes, printed in brown ink, by Geissendorfer (1908-1993), who studied art in Nurnberg and almost immediately began producing etchings of his home town Rothenburg. The etchings offered here are typical of his pre-World War II work, the etchings small and uncolored; following the war, he took over the family art gallery in Rothenburg and began to produce large colored etchings for the tourist trade. Rothenburg is a medieval town on the Tauber River in Bavaria. Cover title: "Alt Rothenburg." Apparently unrecorded on OCLC. 1929 gift inscription on title page, else very good. Original illustrated green wrappers (rubbed), tied. (#7796). Item #60588

Price: $375.00
