White Pine Series of Architectural Monographs [with slight variation to title through publications years]

(St. Paul, MN: White Pine Bureau), 1915-1940. First edition of each issue. Small 4to. 26 volumes, six issues per volume [only three for volume one, number five in volume six never published], generally 16 heavily illustrated pages per issue. 148 [of 152 published] issues, lacking vol. I, number one; vol. XVIII, number one; vol. XXII, number five; and vol. XXVI, number three. "A landmark publication of drawings, photographs, and descriptions of early American architecture … [later the editor] modified the focus of the series, including documentation of churches and public buildings and the recording of interiors and millwork details. He also expanded the geographic scope of the project, documenting buildings in the southern states" (Wikipedia). Generally each monograph was written by an expert in the area to be discussed, including architecture of a particular region or town, churches of a region, individual early houses or other buildings, fences and other structures, doorways and other millwork, etc. Near complete runs in original wrappers are uncommon. Other than the defect noted and a little storage soiling, very good or better copies throughout. All 148 issues in original printed wrappers (detached on vol. I, numbers two and three). (#7794).
