[Madrid]: 1853. Apparently first issued in two sheets, 1851-1853. Engraved broadside map, 32 x 42 inches, folded to 8vo, with hand-colored borders; inset maps of Havana and eleven other towns (Caibarien, Guanabocoa Guanajay, Guines, Holguin, Manzanillo, Pinar del Rio, Puerto Principe, San Antonio de los Banos, Remedios, Santa Clara, and Santiago de las Vegas), soundings in offshore and coastal waters, tables, etc. A detailed topographical, historical , and statistical map of the island, issued in Coello's series "Atlas de Espana y sus Posesiones de Ultramar" (50 maps, issued separately and published, 1848-1870). Not in Phillips. Cueto "Cuba in Old Maps" 84: "Among the important commercial maps [of Cuba] published in Spain during [the 19th] century" (cf. page 18). OCLC locates one copy (Valladolid), separately described; we did not find another in the serial listings. Very good. Original cloth-backed printed boards. (#7623). Item #60398
