First edition thus, a revision of the author's similar work from 1843. 12mo. xi, (1) 259 pp. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, 20 plates, 18 of them hand-colored plates of flies, engraved title page. Westwood & Satchell, p. 33: "Strange medley of practical usefulness and rhapsodical extravagance. The instructions for fly-making are peculiarly concise and clear." Heckscher 203. Sage catalogue, p. 34. Long split along lower plate mark of engraved frontispiece (not affecting the image), but a lovely copy in a wonderful new binding by Phil Dusel.
