Jacksonville, [IL]: 1863. Printed broadside extra, 18 x 11 7/8 inches, printing four columns of text below the head, which is in bold capital letters. The Civil War news briefly describes the recent battle at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and an attack by General Sherman at Vicksburg, with an accompanying list of gains, losses, and killed and wounded for both sides at Murfreesboro. The broadside was issued in trying circumstances for the publisher: "We regret that an absolute failure to obtain printing paper has compelled us to suspend our regular issue this week. The supply of printing paper has become exceedingly short throughout the country." The Jacksonville Sentinel, published in the county seat of Morgan County, was issued as a weekly, 1855-1866, under slightly differing titles.
