[Chromolithograph of a blacksmith at work shoeing an ox, while an assistant reads a copy of the Tribune & Farmer, 6 x 5 1/4 inches]. TRIBUNE AND FARMER OF NEW YORK CITY. THE BEST AGRICULTURAL & FAMILY WEEKLY PAPER IN THE WORLD ONLY 1 DOLLAR PER YEAR TRIAL TRIP FOR THREE MONTHS 25 CENTS. SUBSCRIPTIONS TAKEN HERE.

[New York]: Lith. Stahl & Jaeger. 136-138 Mulberry St., N.Y., [ca. 1885]. (the Huntington Library notes the two were partners from 1883 until 1908, but a business directory lists the name and street for 1911-12). The Tribune and Farmer advertised here is difficult to identify; OCLC records include similar titles in a sequence: New-York Tribune Farmer (1901-1912), Tribune Farmer (1913), The Rural New-Yorker (1878-1964, absorbed the Tribune Farmer in 1914). The typography suggests the 1880s or 1890s, perhaps later. Apparently the broadside is unrecorded on OCLC. An attractive advertisement, appropriate for exhibition. Folded, with several small tears at folds, verso of one with archival repair not affecting image or text. (7158). Item #59334
