Lafcadio Hearn supplied Chapter XL "The Scenes of Cable's Romances." Gilt-stamped at base of front cover: "Exposition Edition." Howes C-574: "Map not issued in all copies." BAL 2340 (Cable) and 7915 (Hearn): Third printing, state A. Thompson 809. Still a very good copy, without the map which was not issued in all copies and was laid into those that included it.
