New Orleans, LA: E. J. Valdez & Co., 1894. Ephemera. 4to. One-page reproduced typescript, approximately 250 words, advising the recipient, J.D. Hanks of Bristol, Virginia, that the Valdez Company would give him a $1000 winning ticket if he could sell $75 worth of tickets to help the company get a foothold in a new community. "All we ask of you is to keep the contents of this letter confidential … we lose money the first month but the large amount of tickets we will be able to sell afterwards will pay us to send you the prize."
