Color lithograph, 23 3/8 x 17 1/4 inches, picturing the Washington Monument between the U.S. Capitol and the White House, both in the background with other buildings, tourists boating in the reflecting pool and strolling about the grounds; inset oval portrait of George Washington (2 3/4 x 2 1/2 inches) directly below the monument and historical inset scenes of Washington resigning his commission and presiding over the signing of the Declaration of Independence (each 2 3/4 x 4 1/2 inches) flanking the portrait. Insets in the lower corners print a short description of the monument and a list of tall monuments from around the world. Not recorded on OCLC. Several tears repaired on the verso, with some other repair work, but a lovely example of this striking lithograph. (#5985). Item #58777
