NOTICIAS / DE / PUEBLA / ABRIL 2 de 1867.; [followed by 21 lines of text]. Signed in type at the end "Diaz."

Buena Vista, (Mexico): Abril 6 de 1867. Small printed broadside, 8 1/4 x 6 1/4 inches, employing several sizes and styles of type, "Puebla" in a larger display type (13/16 inch), recording Diaz's account of his military action at Puebla, where his forces captured some 900 prisoners and launched assaults into the hills, effectively ousting Maximillian's troops and leading to the end of the Mexican Empire a month later. Diaz (1830-1915) was President of Mexico, 1876-1911, after serving in major military commands under Juarez in the struggle against the French-supported Mexican Empire (1862-1867) that was headed by the Austrian Maximillian. Apparently not recorded on OCLC. Inked a bit unevenly and printed slightly askew; a little loss to the left lower corner, not affecting text. (#6311). Item #58454
