Blackmer sale 850: "Hunter was present on board H.M.S. Dido during various scenes of action in the Anglo-Egyptian war in Syria in 1840. A British-Turkish military force invaded Lebanon in September, 1840, in order to force Mehmet Ali to return Syria to Ottoman rule and to abandon his dangerous attempts to partition the Ottoman Empire."
