[?] Fitzhugh his Book / Bot. of General John Hungerford / Price 6# Dec. 12th 1810"; Hungerford (1761-1833), a Westmoreland County native, served in the Revolutionary War, the Virginia state house, 1797-1801, the state senate, 1801-1809, the U.S. House of Representatives, 1811 and 1813-1817, and in the War of 1812 as a brigadier general of militia. An M. C. Fitzhugh from Fairfax is recorded in the early 19th century Federal census records and in an 1834 farmer's register. American Imprints 5512 (giving pagination as "562p."). Sowerby 1868. Spine crudely repaired, front board detached, lacking front endpapers, repair to title page (not affecting text); still a good copy with a nice Virginia provenance.
