Colton's Louisiana

New York: J.H. Colton, 1863. Broadside map, 13 3/4 x 16 inches, the parishes hand-colored in pastel shades of green and pink, the state border in heavy red outline, the whole enclosed within a wide ornamental border. Railroads, highways, and canals are marked. Not in Phillips or the online Rumsey collection. OCLC records only an 1855 issue. Very good overall, the map fine, with no corner fold breaks or other flaws, Scarce folding pocket map of Louisiana issued in the middle of the Civil War. Folded into 12mo giltstamped cloth boards (rubbed), with publisher's ad on front pastedown. (#5155). Item #58240
