Moses Austin (1761-1821), father of Texas pioneer Stephen Austin, settled in the Spanish territories west of the Mississippi, in what is now Missouri, in the 1790's. Instrumental in the development of the American lead industry, this receipt mentions his "Furnace Houses." These were probably in Missouri, where he was residing at the time of the Louisiana purchase.
