Eberstadt 114, 693: “Contains, in addition, accounts of the atrocities perpetrated by Chief Joseph and his followers.” While Howes and other bibliographies call for eight plates (frontispiece plus 7), Graff and the OCLC description call for 7 (frontispiece plus 6); we have handled several copies, all with a total of seven plates, as here. Original gilt-stamped brown cloth. Lacking front endpaper, light marginal tideline through first 11 pages, otherwise very good. Item #57169
