Mountaineering in the Alps of Switzerland circa 1910,
as pictured in two photograph albums comprising 74 snapshots, each 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches. 12mo. cloth albums. 33 of the photographs are landscapes of the mountains taken at great height, almost all including snow, glaciers, sheer faces, and soaring peaks; 13 more scenes from the same series include mountain climbers, at least three different men and a woman, in climbing clothes and boots and with ropes, axes, and other equipment, several of the images including a mountain hut. The 28 remaining photographs picture Swiss scenery, roadways, a mountain lake, an automobile of the period, and rural family scenes; three of those images are posed shots of two young boys and a man in fishing garb, with fly rods, creels, etc., another two are of young ladies with tennis racquets. We have been unable to identify the people or the precise locations pictured. Uniform cloth bindings, one blue and one red, each gilt-stamped "Kodak" on the upper cover.
