Property survey for Elisha Perkins of Burke County, North Carolina, as recorded in a manuscript document, completed and signed 15 October 1778, and incorporating a small survey map of the land, 8 3/4 x 6 inches; the map, in the upper right corner, measures 3 x 3 inches. Folded as for filing, but very good. Accompanied by another document: Surveying the dower of Jane Hiland, the widow of Elisha Perkin, in a manuscript document, completed and signed by James Murphy and three others, 13 February 1816.

Perkins owned 450 acres along "John River." This is the first 18th-century North Carolina land survey that we have offered. Perkins's widow, remarried after his death, would hold the land, 237 acres of a larger property surveyed first in 1778, until her decease.
