Oblong 4to. 200, 40 pp. Shape-note notation for three or four voices. All of the early editions are uncommon in trade. OCLC locates 11 copies of this edition (UCLA, Chicago Public, Manchester College, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Boston Public, Appalachian State, Duke, Moravian Music Foundation, Princeton, Cincinnati/Hamilton County Public, Ransom Center). Original roan-backed printed boards (severely rubbed, corners and edges eroded). Spine ends chipped, front joint separated, lacking all front endpapers to title page, title page worn and soiled, with one repair to verso, claiming several letters in the title. Still a good copy.
