Colton's Alabama

New York: G.W. and C.B. Colton, 1870. Engraved broadside, 16 x 13 3/8 inches, the map of Alabama printed within a wide ornamental border, counties hand-colored in pastel shades of pink, green, and yellow. Roads, rail roads, and canals are delineated. Not in Phillips or the online Rumsey collection. Not recorded on OCLC (which does locate several other editions of "Colton's Alabama," the first in 1855). Folded into gilt-stamped cloth boards, printed ad for Colton maps and atlases on front pastedown. Several small breaks at corner folds, but very good. (2479). Item #55896
