Charming edition; at the head of the first page of text inscribed "Norwich, Dec. 21 1821 / To Miss Abby Ann Jepson, For good scholarship & correct behavior in school from her friend & Instructress, F.M. Caulkins." Caulkins (1795-1869) published an exhaustive history of Norwich, Connecticut, in 1845, with an updated version in 1866 (Sabin 11572 and 11573); Jepson was married in Norwich in 1833. Contemporary flame calf, leather label and gilt rules on spine, all edges yellow. Joints just cracking, but an attractive copy. (1493). Item #54711
