Prints news of the Fourth of July celebrations, overland travels, the gold diggings, the complete text of William Van Voorhies's San Jose celebration from the fourth, extensive notes from travels "through Lower California," a letter on the Whitman murders in Oregon denying the involvement of Catholic priests, business notes, etc. Folded (some separation along folds, with the loss of a number of words)..
