John S. Daniels leaves the Union army, as recorded in a partly printed document, completed in manuscript 17 May 1865 in Concord, New Hampshire, and signed by the local mustering officer, Capt. A.B. Munford (?).

Broadside, 11 x 8 1/4 inches, decorated with a cut of the American Eagle under the title, discharging Daniels from his unit, 2nd New Hampshire Infantry, after completing his enlistment (9 August 1862) for the duration of the war. A 22 year old farmer, the private was separated by order of "Telegram, War Dept., 3 May 1865." Docketed on verso. Accompanied by a simple manuscript receipt, 4 1/2 x 7 3/4 inches, Daniels' 1862 mustering form, signed by Lt. Col. S. Eastman, as mustering officer. Folded. Very good. Item #53763
