Contemporary polished black half-calf and marbled boards (rubbed), gilt title and ornaments between raised bands on spine. Corners bumped, joints rubbed (worn at head of spine), corners of title pages to volumes one and four chipped (without loss of text), volume three foxed, title page to volume four heavily foxed.
