Oats also swears to "serve [the C.S.A.] honestly and faithfully against all their enemies or opposers whatsoever. Walker (1819-1872), a native of Tennessee, read law and moved to Alabama in the early 1840s; he was elected to the state supreme court in 1856 and served until 1868, the final nine years as chief justice. Folded, but a very good example of a scarce Confederate oath of allegiance. Item #53417
