Buckner graduated from West Point in 1844 and earned to brevets in the Mexican War. He was appointed brigadier general in the Confederate army in September, 1861, and successively surrendered Fort Donelson, led a division at Perryville and a corps at Chickamauga, and served as Kirby Smith's chief of staff in the Trans-Mississippi. Glen Lily was Buckner's Kentucky estate. Small tear in card at upper edge. Item #53289
