First separate edition, reprinted from Harper's Magazine. 8vo. 30 pp. A native of Bull's Island, South Carolina, Shubrick (1790-1874) served as a young officer in the War of 1812, at the beginning of a long career in the U.S. Navy. Not in Turnbull. OCLC locates 12 copies, but only one in South Carolina (South Carolina). Printed salmon wrappers (lacks rear wrapper), stitched. Very good. BAL 3973. Item #50508
