Contemporary calf (chipped at base of spine), leather spine label. Jilson Payne early owner's name and bookplate with ink notes on endpapers, but a good solid copy. Jilson Payne was born in Fairfax County, Va moved to Kentucky with his parents when he was 18 in early 1785. He was a Kentucky State Legislator, plantation owner, and prominent member of the Baptist Church in 1803 he built a house called Mt. Pleasant near Mt. Sterling for his family. Item #49799
