The conference was probably sponsored by the Y.M.C.A., as the three principal speakers were officers in that organization; Knebel was State Secretary and Wilson Assistant State Secretary for North and South Carolina, and Smith, an older man, was described as "Shelbyville, Ky. -- County Sec'y Young Men's Christian Ass'n."
