First edition of the third annual report for the company. The first railroad line in Cuba, operating out of Havana, opened in 1837; this line was built to provide service on the southern coast between Cienfuegos and Sancti Spiritus. Presentation copy, with "Senor D. Enrique Gatke" gilt-stamped on upper cover; laid in is an ALS from the author to Gatke, 'Habana, 10 de Agosto de 1863," concerning activities of the board of directors.
