First edition. With the ownership signature, and several notes on the rear leaves, by one of the enlisted men, Ernest L. Dean of Flat Creek, Tennessee. Most of the soldiers listed southern home towns. The company was formed at Camp Custer, Michigan, with 168 men of the "Colored Provisional Battalions" and white officers from various other companies; more soldiers were added from other units later. Comprises a history (2 pp.), roster of members (7 pp.), dinner menu, captain's comments, memorial to one deceased company member (1 p. each). Rare; not recorded by the NUC or on OCLC.
