(Washington, DC?), 1879. 8vo. 8pp. Original self-wrappers (soiled). Item #38866
An unattributed printing of the twelve-part act, as passed by the United States Senate and House of Representatives, proposing construction of a canal through Nicaragua to link the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. No effort to build a canal through Nicaragua ever progressed much past planning stages. It was not until after the formation of the Republic of Panama in 1903 and the herculean work of George Goethals and others that a trans-isthmian canal was completed in 1914. Scarce; unrecorded by the NUC, not on OCLC.
