8vo. Two-pages, approximately 300 words. Cogdell, serving as a captain in the 67th North Carolina Infantry, reported on camp illness, regretted being so far from home, wished for a transfer to a company nearer there, and sent best wishes to family members. The 67th North Carolina Infantry, commanded by Col. James Whitford, who is mentioned in this letter, was assigned to the 2nd Military District, Department of North Carolina and Southern Virginia in June 1864. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope with two Jefferson Davis five-cent Confederate stamps affixed (one defective). Folded for mailing. Very good. Item #37452
