OHIO HUNTER: OR, A BRIEF SKETCH OF THE FRONTIER LIFE OF SAMUEL E. EDWARDS, THE GREAT BEAR AND DEER HUNTER OF THE STATE OF OHIO.

Battle Creek, MI: Review and Herald Steam Press Print, 1866. 12mo. 240 pp. Illustrated, frontispiece. Original cloth, gilt title and bear ornament on the spine. This copy has a little foxing to the title page, lacks its tissue guard, and shows removal of labels from front and rear endpapers, but in other respects remains an attractive copy. Item #26860

First edition. Howes E-70 (“b”). Streeter sale VII, 4091: “My copy of this book must be about the best which has survived” [he described it as “spine faded; head and heel rubbed; slight foxing on first leaves”]. We offered a copy two years ago described “in the original gilt-stamped cloth, fine and bright in all respects, save for a nick at the base of the spine; a better copy than Streeter imagined, and by far the best that we have seen.” This copy is just about equal to that one.

Price: $2,500.00
